Position Overview: Mechanical Integrity Engineer
Location: Nashua, NH
Amphenol TCS is a leader in high-speed, high-bandwidth electrical connectors, serving the Telecom and Datacom sectors. Our innovative products are essential for the electronics industry and support major Tier 1 OEMs worldwide. We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Integrity Engineer to join our Product Development team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
In this role, you will spearhead the development of new products through rigorous testing and data analysis.
- Lead the mechanical testing and qualification of electrical and opto-electronic cable assemblies and components.
- Create test sequences and procedures to assess the long-term reliability of cable assemblies, considering customer usage and application requirements.
- Analyze testing results and compile reports and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in product design efforts, focusing on mechanical analysis, including tolerance analysis, FEA, materials analysis, and failure analysis.
- Prepare test samples and requests, design and construct test fixtures, and collaborate with testing lab technicians.
- Work closely with internal and external suppliers and manufacturing teams to support the development and validation of product prototypes through pilot production, while also engaging with beta-site customers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5 to 10 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in solid modeling software such as Pro/E and/or Solidworks.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools, including MS Excel and Minitab, is advantageous.
- Experience in developing test plans for mechanical and environmental stresses on high-speed electrical connectors.
- Knowledge of testing protocols in automotive or consumer sectors is a plus.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis tools, particularly ANSYS, is desirable.
- Strong communication skills to engage with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- A collaborative mindset to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
- A passion for innovation in product and process design.
- Understanding of copper alloys and high-performance engineering thermoplastics is beneficial.
- Basic knowledge of electrical connectors is preferred.
