Teaching Specialist/Lecturer

We are seeking a highly qualified part-time instructor to teach courses in strategic communication, journalism, and mass communication at the University of Minnesota. The successful candidate will have a strong background in teaching and industry experience in strategic communication, journalism, or mass communication.
Key Responsibilities- Teach courses in strategic communication, journalism, and mass communication
- Develop and implement curriculum to meet the needs of students
- Assess student learning and provide feedback
- Participate in departmental and university service
- B.A. degree in journalism, mass communication, strategic communication/advertising, public relations, or a closely related field
- At least three (3) years of demonstrated successful professional experience in journalism, strategic communication/advertising, or public relations
- Advanced graduate or professional degree (M.A.) in journalism, mass communication, strategic communication/advertising, public relations, or a closely related field
- At least five (5) years of demonstrated successful professional experience in journalism, strategic communication/advertising, or public relations
- Terminal professional degree, M.B.A, Ph.D., J.D., or equivalent
- Substantial demonstrated and successful professional experience in journalism, strategic communication/advertising, or public relations
The Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Minnesota is part of the College of Liberal Arts and is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Journalism and Mass Communication. The Hubbard School offers majors in Strategic Communication - Advertising and Public Relations, Professional Journalism, and Media and Information; and minors in Media and Information and Digital Media Studies.
