Position Overview:
Zurich North America is seeking a Senior Claims Professional (Attorney) specializing in Surety to manage a diverse caseload of claims with varying complexities. This role is designed for candidates located within the U.S. and offers the flexibility of a home-based office.
Key Responsibilities:
In this position, you will oversee Surety claims from initiation to resolution, ensuring compliance with Zurich's best practices. Your responsibilities will include:
- Evaluating coverage, liability, and damages associated with claims.
- Engaging in mediation processes and negotiating settlements.
- Preparing coverage and denial letters, as well as notifying underwriters of claim-related issues.
- Drafting comprehensive case summary reports, particularly for significant reserve adjustments and trial preparations.
- Coordinating with defense counsel and managing their activities.
You should be prepared to travel approximately 25% of the time for site visits or other business-related needs.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A Juris Doctor degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in the legal field.
- At least 5 years of legal practice experience within the insurance sector.
- Ability to obtain and maintain necessary adjuster licenses.
Preferred Skills:
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- Membership in the bar association.
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
Compensation:
Zurich offers a competitive salary range, which is influenced by various factors including location, role, and experience level. The starting salary for this position is between $130,000 and $170,000.
