Position Summary

This is a lead-level position responsible for investigating and managing intricate property claims. You will assess liability, gather information, review coverage options, coordinate appraisals, and resolve claims. This role requires a high level of expertise to perform all aspects of claim adjustment activities with exceptional proficiency and autonomy. The position involves fieldwork, focusing on complex homeowner property claims.

Compensation

The compensation range for this position is between $84,000 and $139,000 annually, with a salary pay rate type. Compensation may vary based on job level and geographic work location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate the origin and cause of high-exposure claims by engaging with relevant parties, including insured individuals, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in High Damage Reviews (HDR) to address coverage concerns and exposures, handling claims with integrity.
  • Manage both first-party and third-party claims across various policy types and endorsements.
  • Conduct on-site inspections as necessary, assess damages, and negotiate claims with insured parties, claimants, and legal representatives.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, make informed decisions, and close files as required.
  • Interpret and apply policy documents, leases, by-laws, declarations, and contracts to all parties involved in assigned losses.
  • Make independent decisions while recognizing when to seek assistance.
  • Provide proactive updates to all parties regarding the claim process and status, addressing questions or redirecting as needed.
  • Serve as a mentor and subject matter expert for junior adjusters.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven ability to manage first-party and third-party, multi-line claims across various operational territories.
  • Experience in delivering customer-focused solutions and support.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively handle complex claims.
  • Extensive knowledge of policy coverages and endorsements.
  • Thorough understanding of each phase of the claims handling process.

Additional Qualifications

  • Advanced proficiency in Xactimate is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in handling field property personal lines claims is required.
  • Preference for candidates who have managed claims exceeding $50,000.
  • Experience as a staff adjuster is preferred.

Licensing Requirements

  • A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.
  • Must obtain state-specific property casualty claims licensing as necessary.

Travel Requirements

  • Willingness to travel up to 50%, with potential catastrophe travel up to 75% as applicable.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and similar structures.
  • Capable of navigating various environments, including tight and confined spaces.
  • Ability to adjust or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds in all directions.

Work Environment

This role is primarily home-based, with approximately 80% of your time spent working from home or in the field managing claims. Occasional travel to an office location may be required for team meetings, training sessions, and cultural events.
