Role Responsibilities: As a Property Underwriter, you will leverage your marketing and analytical expertise to assess and underwrite both new and renewal business. Operating under general guidance, you will apply The Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework within your delegated authority, focusing on assignments that present higher technical complexity while ensuring exceptional service to our clients.

This position is client-facing, and we are looking for candidates with a robust sales execution mindset and a solid understanding of property insurance policies.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Implement and oversee underwriting guidelines, rating manual protocols, and compliance with insurance regulations.
  • Build and sustain collaborative relationships with Line of Business representatives and address business-related needs.
  • Foster relationships with distributors (agents and brokers) to support business retention and growth, while identifying their insurance needs and offering tailored solutions.
  • Contribute to the organization’s sales culture by serving as a resource for agents, brokers, and clients.
  • Actively pursue renewal and new account opportunities.
  • Conduct thorough opportunity assessments with key distributors to pinpoint growth prospects.
  • Evaluate accounts to align with the organization’s appetite while balancing sound business opportunities.
  • Engage in broker/customer and on-site visits with a well-prepared agenda.

Basic Qualifications:

For Senior Property Underwriter:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent with 5+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles, or
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent with 10+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support, or
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles, or
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 8+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support.

For AVP Property Underwriter:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent with 7+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles, or
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent with 14+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support, or
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 5+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles, or
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 12+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support, and
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Technical expertise in commercial Property Underwriting.
  • Established relationships with brokers in the region.
  • Experience with an international customer base.
  • Sales-oriented mindset.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation: The compensation for roles at Zurich varies based on numerous factors, including office location, role, skill set, and experience level. The salary range for this position is between $115,000 and $205,000, with specific starting ranges for the Senior and AVP levels.
