Role Overview: We are seeking skilled Senior Underwriters to join our expanding US Managing General Agency (MGA) team. This position involves managing a profitable portfolio of business while collaborating with a dynamic underwriting department.

The ideal candidates will possess a strong customer-centric approach and a background in sports insurance. Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve profitability, retention, and premium targets set by the organization.
  • Make independent underwriting decisions and maintain thorough documentation.
  • Assist in establishing annual business objectives for assigned agents and analyze performance.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of sports and fitness products and services.
  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with brokers and agents to enhance a profitable business portfolio.
  • Exhibit strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Collaborate with management on complex risks requiring special attention.
  • Contribute to training initiatives to enhance the team's knowledge base.
  • Own results through dedicated effort focused on personal and professional growth.
  • Evaluate prospective brokers and assess risk acceptability according to company guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively within the underwriting team and across departments to improve processes.
  • Prepare reports for management review and negotiate terms with brokers.
  • Embody and align with our core values in all aspects of work.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance operational excellence.
  • Demonstrate responsiveness and urgency in communications with brokers and colleagues.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.
  • Travel as necessary for team collaboration and client meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in middle market and/or large account underwriting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Characteristics:

  • Experience with Socotra and/or Salesforce is a plus.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and ability to influence without authority.
  • Ability to build rapport across departments.
  • Understanding of the youth and amateur sports landscape.

Additional Requirements:

  • Occasional travel for team events and client engagements.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
  • Strong communication skills across various platforms.
  • Willingness to engage in virtual meetings with video on.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States.
