Position Overview

As a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) Administrator, you will play a vital role in managing a classified platform that facilitates developers in building, deploying, and managing applications without the complexities of underlying infrastructure.

This position will also involve acting as the primary data transfer officer and software license administrator within a supportive program role.


Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the overall PaaS infrastructure, ensuring its availability, scalability, and performance align with developer and application needs.
  • Oversee the deployment and configuration of PaaS services, ensuring proper integration with other systems.
  • Establish and uphold security protocols to safeguard the PaaS environment against threats and vulnerabilities, including access control and compliance with security standards.
  • Monitor the health and performance of the PaaS environment, diagnosing and resolving issues as they arise, often collaborating with helpdesk teams to utilize monitoring tools and analytics effectively.
  • Assist in the management and allocation of resources such as computing power, storage, and networking to optimize performance and cost efficiency.
  • Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions to prevent data loss and ensure business continuity.
  • Provide support to users and developers utilizing the PaaS platform, assisting with troubleshooting, performance optimization, and conducting training sessions on best practices and new features.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends, continually assessing and implementing enhancements to the PaaS environment.

Software License Management
  • Source, negotiate, and procure software licenses for various departments, ensuring favorable terms and pricing.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all software licenses, including agreements, renewal dates, and usage terms, implementing a centralized license management system.
  • Ensure compliance with software usage agreements, monitoring for non-compliance and taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Analyze software license utilization to identify optimization opportunities and cost savings.
  • Manage the renewal process for software licenses, ensuring timely renewals to avoid disruptions.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with software vendors, serving as the primary contact for license inquiries and negotiations.
  • Prepare for and facilitate software license audits, ensuring all documentation is accurate and readily available.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure timely approval of new software versions to align with corporate standards.

Data Transfer Responsibilities
  • Oversee secure data transfers between systems, ensuring integrity, confidentiality, and compliance with regulations.
  • Coordinate data transfer processes, establishing protocols and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Implement security measures to protect data during transfers, utilizing encryption and access controls.
  • Monitor data transfer activities, addressing issues and generating performance reports.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to data transfer, collaborating with IT teams as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of data transfer processes and ensure adherence to privacy regulations.
  • Identify opportunities for optimizing data transfer processes and enhancing security measures.

Cybersecurity Support
  • Assist in continuous monitoring tasks and prepare documentation for system authorizations.
  • Maintain necessary certifications to support privileged user assignments and sustain compliance with training requirements.
  • Support the development and documentation of user training plans.
  • Proactively seek ways to apply technology to enhance organizational operations.
  • Collaborate with senior staff to evaluate system changes and prepare documentation for security package re-approval.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, including data backup and user account management.
  • Provide support for hardware, software, and applications, documenting changes as required.
  • Assist in the deployment of hardware and software resources.
  • Support cable routing and hardware maintenance activities.
  • Gather data related to software packages for documentation purposes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 2-4 years of experience as an Administrator on server-based systems, with software installation and troubleshooting experience.
  • Specialized certification in accordance with compliance requirements.
  • Experience with license management tools and software asset management practices.
  • Basic familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Authorization to Operate (ATO) processes.
  • Familiarity with Windows desktop, Windows Server, and Linux operating systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to interact with diverse technical personnel.
  • Willingness to work non-standard schedules as needed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.
Desired:
  • Experience with large-scale commercial or military systems.
  • Knowledge of Windows server and desktop products.
  • Previous clearance experience.
  • System Administrator experience with software installation.
