Academic Advisor for Computer Science Majors

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Academic Advisor to join our team at the University of Texas at Austin. The successful candidate will provide academic advising to Computer Science majors, oversee the C S Pods Program, and facilitate multiple sections of C S Pods. This is a unique opportunity to work with a talented team and contribute to the success of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic advising to Computer Science majors, including creating educational plans and providing guidance on course selection.
  • Oversee the C S Pods Program, including budgets, hiring, training, and supervising student mentors.
  • Facilitate multiple sections of C S Pods, maintaining seminar curriculum and supplemental programming.
  • Serve as a liaison with offices within the Department of Computer Science, CNS, and across campus.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience working with college students in an academic counseling capacity.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively provide academic and non-academic advising to students.
  • Ability to teach, present, and/or train a wide range of students.
  • Proven ability to effectively and positively collaborate with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree and at least 2 years working with student populations.

Working Conditions:

  • Environmental Demands: may work around standard office conditions.
  • Physical Tasks: Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
