Academic Advisor for College of Natural Sciences

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Academic Advisor to join our team at the College of Natural Sciences. As a Senior Academic Advisor, you will play a critical role in supporting the academic success of our students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise students individually and in groups on educational plan options and available resources.
- Participate in freshmen and transfer orientations, as well as facilitate multiple learning communities and SDS FIGs.
- Attend meetings, professional development, and trainings, and serve on committees as assigned.
- Provide academic advising to Statistics and Data Science and Computer Science majors.
- Serve as the advising contact for the SDS department, communicating and collaborating on student needs and experiences.
- Collect and provide data on the SDS student population, coordinate departmental orientation programming, and communicate with entry-level advisors on first-year population and promotions.
Requirements:
- Working with college students in an academic counseling capacity with a Bachelor's Degree.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively provide academic and non-academic advising to students.
- Ability to teach, present, and/or train a wide range of students.
- Proven ability to effectively and positively collaborate with others.
- Superb written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills.
- Must be student-centered and focused on student success.
- Ability to anticipate next steps and initiate action without being asked.
- Proven ability to act with discretion and hold necessary information confidential.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree and at least 4 years of experience with student populations (higher education preferred).
Working Conditions:
- May work around standard office conditions.
- Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
