About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Ultrasound Tech II to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a key member of our Maternal Fetal Medicine department, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate diagnostic medical equipment to expose complex diagnostic conditions and perform and communicate results of diagnostic examinations.
  • Assist radiologists in performing invasive diagnostic techniques and provide standardization and training to residents.
  • Evaluate contra-indications and perform ultrasound procedures under general or direct supervision.
  • Recognize sonographic characteristics of normal and abnormal tissues, structures, and blood flow.
  • Analyze sonography findings and provide comprehensive exam results to physicians.
  • Recognize situations or abnormalities requiring direct observation by radiologists.
  • Image structures while obtaining Doppler signal and recording images and Doppler shift recordings.
  • Advise radiologists and referring physicians of examination results and provide preliminary information.
Requirements
  • Completion of a 12-month program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or equivalent certificate program.
  • RDMS registration with certification in at least one modality specific to the department of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Three years of experience as an Ultrasound Tech.
  • Completion of departmental specific Sonographer competencies within 12 months from date of hire.
