Healthcare Coding Associate

We are seeking a skilled Healthcare Coding Associate to join our team at Memorial Health. As a key member of our coding team, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate and efficient medical coding and optimal reimbursement.

About the Role
  • Review and analyze outpatient diagnostic records to assign accurate diagnoses and procedures using ICD and CPT conventions.
  • Audit medical records for completeness and accuracy, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Participate in regular coding meetings and collaborate with medical personnel to ensure seamless communication and accurate coding practices.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest coding guidelines and standards from leading healthcare organizations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately code principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures using ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, and/or CPT coding conventions.
  • Perform coding analysis on outpatient diagnostic accounts using 3M and/or other coding products.
  • Abstract coded accounts in coding systems and ensure accurate APC assignments.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training programs to maintain expertise in anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, disease processes, and surgical techniques.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or post-secondary education preferred.
  • Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent certification required.
  • Previous experience in coding, health information management, or related fields preferred.
