Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified Associate Director of Transfusion Medicine to join our team at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. The successful candidate will have expertise in clinical pathology and transfusion medicine, with a strong background in medical direction and laboratory management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide medical direction and oversight to blood bank-related clinical services, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective pathology services.
• Serve as Associate Medical Director of Transfusion Medicine, working closely with clinicians in hematology, oncology, and other specialties to promote safe and effective blood transfusion components and services.
• Participate in departmental, institutional, and national committees to advance the mission and vision of the Department of Pathology.
• Engage in scholarly activities, including presentations, research collaborations, and publication in peer-reviewed journals.
• Foster a diverse and inclusive faculty, staff, and student environment, promoting excellence in education, research, and patient care.

Requirements:

• MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree.
• Board certification by the American Board of Pathology in combined Anatomic and Clinical Pathology or Clinical Pathology, or board certification in adult or pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
• Board certification or eligibility in Transfusion Medicine.
• Interest or experience in laboratory management and a scholarly record of publication in books and peer-reviewed journals.
• Full, unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia.
