Job Title: Pediatric Residency Program Director

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Pediatric Residency Program Director to lead our esteemed Pediatric Residency Programs. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of pediatric medicine and contributing to the advancement of medical knowledge.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a dedicated and visionary leader to oversee our pediatric residency program, providing guidance and mentorship to residents, chief residents, and associate program directors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pediatric medicine, a passion for education, and excellent leadership skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Teaching: Provide oversight and guidance to the pediatric residency program, ensuring the delivery of high-quality medical care and education to residents.
  • Research: Foster a culture of educational research and scholarship, serving as a research mentor to other educational leaders and housestaff in the department of pediatrics.
  • Service: Participate in departmental, institutional, and school-level committees, as well as professional activities through journal review, conference presentations, and other initiatives.
  • Clinical: Serve as a general pediatrician or pediatric subspecialist for the department of pediatrics, providing clinical care to patients and contributing to the advancement of medical knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Board certification or board eligibility in General Pediatrics and/or a Pediatric Subspecialty.
  • Experience with clinical care of patients ages birth to 21.
  • At least 5 years of educational leadership experience with housestaff or medical students.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Interest and experience in working with General Pediatrics or a Pediatric Subspecialty in which they are trained.
