Job Title: Director of Wellness and Health Promotion

Des Moines University is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to serve as the Director of Wellness and Health Promotion. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team that is dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of students, faculty, and staff.

Job Summary:

The Director of Wellness and Health Promotion will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive wellness program that promotes healthy lifestyles, disease prevention, and overall well-being. This includes developing and delivering group exercise classes, health coaching, and other wellness initiatives that meet the diverse needs of the campus community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for wellness and health promotion that aligns with the university's mission and goals.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to develop and deliver wellness programs and services that meet the diverse needs of the campus community.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external partners to promote wellness and health promotion initiatives.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of wellness staff, including the Wellness Center Manager, Wellness Specialist, and Wellness Assistant.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of university wellness centers, including equipment maintenance, upkeep, and replacement.
  • Serve as a campus consultant and expert on initiatives related to wellbeing, including physical activity, mental wellbeing, nutrition, and other dimensions of wellbeing.
  • Plan, prepare, and manage annual operating and capital equipment budgets.
  • Support and guide staff in the development, enforcement, and evaluation of program policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as health promotion, exercise science, or a related field.
  • Five years of relevant work experience, including prior experience supervising staff/students and experience developing and managing wellness programs or facilities.
  • Three years of supervisory experience.
  • Preferred qualifications include a master's degree in a relevant field, ten years of relevant work experience, and entrepreneurial spirit and business development experience.

Des Moines University offers a competitive salary range of $72,000 - $90,000, commensurate with experience.
