Position Overview: Business and Economics Librarian
College: Meriam Library
Salary: Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
- ALA-accredited graduate degree in Library/Information Science.
- Proficiency in information resources related to business administration, business information systems, marketing, and economics.
- Solid understanding of key business terminology and the application of business information resources in professional contexts.
- Experience in teaching within an academic library or higher education environment.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
The Business and Economics Librarian will play a vital role in enhancing the library's contributions to the educational experience at CSU, Chico. As part of the Library Research, Instruction, & Outreach unit, this position is tasked with addressing the information needs of students and faculty within the College of Business and the Department of Economics. The College of Business encompasses various programs, including accounting, entrepreneurship, finance, human resources, management, marketing, and more.
The librarian will provide information literacy instruction, conduct in-depth research consultations, and offer reference services to faculty and students in both in-person and online formats. This role will involve collaboration on the development, delivery, and evaluation of instructional and outreach services within the library, aiming to enhance teaching, learning, and inclusivity.
- Act as the liaison to the College of Business and the Department of Economics.
- Deliver instruction and research assistance tailored to the needs of faculty and students.
- Collaborate with faculty to create business research materials.
- Promote a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all library users.
- Develop instructional resources in various formats.
- Engage in outreach initiatives to connect with students and the academic community.
- Participate in collection development for assigned subject areas.
- Work with other librarians to implement information literacy instruction.
- Contribute to shared reference and consultation activities.
- Serve on library and university committees.
- Meet research and service expectations for tenure.
- Foster an inclusive educational environment and workplace.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and collaborative skills in a service-oriented setting.
