Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Compliance Director to join our team, responsible for overseeing the compliance team and ensuring product compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compliance and Regulatory Deliverables
    • Provide oversight and leadership in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, including JPMA/Section 104 testing and documentation support, Law Tag support, Certificate of Compliance support, and CPSC contact/reporting.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Product Development Process
    • Monitor and advise on regulatory requirements and industry standards impacting product development.
    • Conduct safety and risk assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Review and develop instruction manuals and labels to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Assist in the development of marketing assets to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ongoing Production Support/Quality Initiatives
    • Review and support customer service inquiries and issues related to compliance.
    • Identify and propose product quality improvements to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Conduct product audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Company Representation/Participation
    • Represent the company in industry committees and standards development organizations, such as ASTM and JPMA.
  • Legal Representative
    • Provide regulatory expertise to the company, including analysis of pending legislative and regulatory developments.
    • Represent the company before regulatory agencies and at industry conferences and events.
  • Team Development and Management
    • Provide leadership and coaching to the compliance team to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements and Qualifications

Experience, Knowledge, and Education

  • Eight to ten years of relevant work experience in a compliance environment, preferably in the consumer or juvenile products industry.
  • Five years of relevant work experience in a compliance environment, preferably in the consumer or juvenile products industry.
  • Extensive experience in the consumer goods industry preferred.
  • Experience in juvenile product standards (ASTM, CPSC, and NHTSA).
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Exceptional understanding of the product development process and common materials used in the manufacturing of juvenile products.
  • Superior command of quality systems, data analysis, documentation practices, and processes.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing: injection molding and plastics.
  • BS degree in engineering required.
