Position Overview

The Patient Access Coordinator I plays a crucial role in ensuring that patients are accurately identified and registered within the hospital's information system. This involves collecting comprehensive demographic, insurance, and clinical data to maintain precise records and facilitate timely billing for services rendered in various departments, including Outpatient Services, Offsite Laboratories, Specimen Collection Centers, and the Emergency Department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of scheduling immediate appointments, tests, and exams while providing reception services and overseeing patient flow to support Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging services or Emergency Department operations.

Minimum Educational Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience Requirements

  • Prior experience in customer service.
  • Familiarity with computerized information systems.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.

Essential Skills and Competencies

  • Strong customer service abilities.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Flexibility to accommodate varying scheduling needs, including shifts and holidays.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology is preferred.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
