Healthcare Referral Specialist

Community Health Centers of the Rutland Region is seeking a skilled Healthcare Referral Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for obtaining and verifying insurance authorizations and referrals for patient services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and verify provider orders to ensure referrals are in place prior to service.
- Maintain accurate records of referrals and authorizations in our electronic medical record system.
- Run regular reports to ensure accuracy and inform providers and staff of referrals/testing.
- Assist patients with authorization documents as needed.
- Monitor and track patient authorizations, notifying supervisors of expired dates.
- Identify and address issues, notifying appropriate staff and providers.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree preferred.
- Three years of experience as a referral specialist or similar experience in a healthcare role.
- Knowledge of medical billing/coding, proficiency in electronic medical record systems, and strong customer service skills.
