POSITION SUMMARY
The Community Engagement Specialist plays a vital role in orchestrating community initiatives, boosting public involvement, and overseeing digital communication for the City. This role is tasked with crafting and executing outreach plans to connect with residents and cultivate robust partnerships with local entities. The position demands a high level of creativity, professionalism, and discretion.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Event Coordination: Design, organize, and implement community events and programs that reflect the City’s objectives. Collaborate with various departments to ensure effective execution, including venue selection, scheduling, and resource management.
- Public Involvement: Formulate strategies to engage diverse community demographics and promote participation in City initiatives. Facilitate public discussions, workshops, and other outreach events.
- Digital Communication: Create and execute comprehensive social media strategies to enhance community interaction and communication. Develop and manage content across various platforms, track trends, and analyze metrics to optimize outreach. Work with departments to ensure cohesive messaging and branding. Establish long-term strategies to boost the City’s online visibility and community engagement.
- Partnership Development: Identify and nurture collaborations with local organizations and community leaders. Innovate outreach techniques to improve the visibility and accessibility of City services.
- Policy Support: Assist in the formulation of policies related to public involvement and community outreach. Ensure adherence to relevant regulations.
- Program Assessment: Implement evaluation tools to gauge the success of outreach initiatives. Analyze data and compile reports on program effectiveness and community feedback.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Public Administration, Business, or a related discipline.
- Two (2) years of experience in community engagement, event coordination, or related fields.

- Understanding of community engagement and event coordination principles.
- Proficient in social media and digital marketing techniques.
- Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.
- Capability to organize and promote community initiatives and events.
- Strong analytical skills for assessing program success.
- Adept at managing multiple projects concurrently.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
- Capacity to establish and maintain effective relationships with diverse community groups and City personnel.
- Outstanding customer service skills and the ability to engage courteously with the public.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position involves medium physical activity and requires abilities such as feeling, handling, hearing, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, visual acuity, and walking.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
