Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct essential and advanced testing for donors and patients, interpreting results to ensure compatibility.
- Address compatibility issues and provide consultation services to healthcare facilities.
- Perform both automated and manual testing procedures on blood samples, adhering to established protocols and regulatory standards.
- Engage with staff from other medical institutions to resolve serological challenges and facilitate the provision of specialized units to recipients.
- Oversee the receipt, coordination, and transport of blood samples, ensuring meticulous management of donor product inventory.
- Execute independent testing procedures, maintaining quality control and addressing any irregularities in testing.
- Maintain accurate records and assist in the training and development of staff and volunteers.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
- MT(ASCP) or BB(ASCP) certification, or equivalent, along with a bachelor's degree in biological science or chemistry and a minimum of three years of experience in blood banking.
- Alternatively, MLT (ASCP) certification with five years of laboratory experience is acceptable.
- Preferred qualifications include SBB (ASCP) certification and experience in a reference laboratory.
