Position Overview:
The Senior Staff Engineer at GE Aviation specializing in Brazing & Heat Treatment is responsible for ensuring alignment with functional, business, and overarching company goals.

This role involves training to become a Certifying Agent for the Special Process Technology Center (SPTC), focusing on brazing and heat treatment processes, including both new manufacturing and field repairs.

Additionally, you will be tasked with integrating and developing processes that fulfill business requirements across the organization, managing intricate challenges within your areas of expertise, leading medium-scale projects, and contributing to the broader business strategy.


Key Responsibilities:

- Assist in the maintenance, updating, and development of Special Process Technology documentation (e.g., P-Spec, QCWI's, Audit Checklists) pertinent to brazing and heat treatment.
- Identify, lead, and execute cost-reduction initiatives related to welding.
- Establish brazing protocols for New Product Introduction (NPI) hardware and support modifications in manufacturing sources.
- Lead investigations into root cause corrective actions and drive the implementation of foolproof solutions.

- Responsible for recognizing and executing process improvement projects aimed at reducing cycle times and enhancing first-time yield for brazed components throughout the GE Aviation Supply Chain, utilizing lean and six-sigma methodologies.
- Define and regulate production processes, including tooling and equipment.
- Collaborate with design and material application engineers to provide guidance on cost-effective and producible designs.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for senior management within GE Aviation.

- Conduct audits of GE facilities and suppliers to ensure compliance with GE Aviation and NADCAP standards, leading corrective actions for any audit discrepancies.

- Fulfill the responsibilities of a Certifying Agent and assist Supply Chain sources in resolving production challenges related to brazing and heat treatment.
- Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for assigned projects and tasks in accordance with engineering policies and procedures.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 10 years of hands-on manufacturing experience in joining processes).
- At least 5 years of practical, hands-on experience in manufacturing processes related to joining.

- Master of Science in Engineering (preferably in Welding or Materials Science).
