General Overview

Michelman presents an exciting opportunity for a Senior Process Engineer to become a vital member of our Corporate Engineering Team within the Americas region. This role focuses on spearheading process trials and pioneering new technologies at our Process Innovation Center. Responsibilities will encompass supporting pilot facility trials and contributing to global process engineering projects aimed at Continuous Improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee, mentor, and nurture direct reports within the Process Innovation Center.
  • Coordinate the overall schedule for the Process Innovation Center, ensuring effective time management for yourself and your team.
  • Establish Objectives & Key Results (OKR) for the group that align with Michelman's strategic vision.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders (e.g., Quality Assurance, Production, Research & Development) to pinpoint potential projects and deliverables for the Process Innovation Center.
  • Prioritize innovations in processes and products through a continuous feedback mechanism that aligns with customer needs.
  • Draft project charters, trial plans, validation plans, and comprehensive reports summarizing experiments and projects.
  • Lead and coordinate safety assessments for experiments to guarantee safe execution.
  • Analyze trial data and conduct statistical evaluations.
  • Innovate and co-develop new concepts for processes and products.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Formulate capital requests to support ongoing investments in the Process Innovation Center.
  • Provide process engineering expertise for Global Key projects, which may involve in-plant trials.
  • Support the global Process Engineering Function to ensure best practices are implemented across all regions.
  • Present project outcomes to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with the Management of Change process within the Process Innovation Center.
  • Collaborate daily in a cross-functional team environment, ensuring contributions from all members.
  • Possess the ability to engage with all organizational levels and a willingness to support operators and maintenance technicians in the plant as needed.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of FMEA (Failure Mode & Effects Analysis), continuous improvement, project management methodologies, and experimental design to drive projects from conception to completion.
  • Maintain high safety, work standards, and cleanliness in the Process Innovation Center.
  • Exhibit self-motivation with a strong customer-centric approach to deliver high-quality products and processes safely.
  • Showcase independent initiative, sound judgment, analytical skills, and professionalism.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software such as JMP or Minitab is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel being advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel to global manufacturing facilities.
Educational Background and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a chemical processing environment.
  • Experience in R&D, particularly in process or product development, is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with producing water-based emulsions and a foundational understanding of emulsion chemistry is a plus.
Work Schedule

The standard work hours for this position are Monday to Friday, from 7 AM to 4 PM EST.
