Overview:

Aqua is seeking a dedicated professional for the role of Wastewater Plant Manager. This position entails overseeing the effective, compliant, and cost-efficient management of wastewater treatment operations. The successful candidate will report to the Area Manager and will be responsible for the overall administration and management of operational and capital budgets, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Develop and implement procedures for operational control.
  • Assist in the planning of capital and operational budgets and support project execution for wastewater facilities.
  • Organize personnel schedules and delegate tasks to team members.
  • Provide training and oversight to employees within the Wastewater Plant Department.
  • Promote and uphold quality assurance processes.
  • Take primary responsibility for regulatory reporting and submissions.
  • Establish and enforce Standard Operating Procedures for the facilities.
  • Engage in departmental meetings and deliver presentations as needed.
  • Participate in seminars and meetings related to laboratory work, quality control, and process improvements.
  • Investigate operational disruptions and determine necessary corrective actions.
  • Offer support to other departments, including Customer Service and Wastewater Collection.
  • Maintain an effective asset management program.
  • Ensure compliance with Aqua's safety policies and procedures through staff training.

  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma (or equivalent) is required; a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in wastewater treatment is required.
  • Laboratory experience is advantageous.
  • Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Experience with industrial pretreatment programs is a plus.
  • Possession of an IEPA Class 1 Wastewater License is strongly preferred; candidates must obtain at least an IEPA Class 3 Wastewater License within one year of hire.
  • A valid U.S. Driver's License is required.
  • Availability to carry a cell phone and be on-call for emergencies is necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of NPDES/National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System limits and wastewater treatment regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience with SAP is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent customer service abilities.
  • Capability to perform well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A collaborative team player with the ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to perform sedentary work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force.
  • Frequent travel may be required across the division.
  • Availability for emergency consultation on a 24/7 basis.
