Overview:

Aqua is seeking a dedicated and experienced Wastewater Plant Manager to oversee our wastewater treatment operations. This role is crucial for ensuring the effective, compliant, and cost-efficient management of our treatment facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing wastewater treatment.
  • Develop and implement procedures for process control operations.
  • Assist in capital and operational budget planning and support project execution for wastewater facilities.
  • Manage personnel scheduling and task assignments for team members.
  • Provide training and oversight to staff within the Wastewater Plant Department.
  • Promote and uphold quality assurance processes.
  • Take primary responsibility for regulatory reporting.
  • Establish and enforce Standard Operating Procedures for facility operations.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and deliver presentations as needed.
  • Engage in laboratory, quality control, and process-related seminars and meetings.
  • Investigate operational disruptions and implement corrective measures as necessary.
  • Support other departments, including Customer Service and Wastewater Collection, as required.
  • Maintain the asset management program effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with Aqua's safety policies and procedures, providing training to staff.
  • Exemplify Aqua's core values of Integrity, Respect, and Excellence.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences or a related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in wastewater treatment operations.
  • Laboratory experience is advantageous.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Experience with industrial pretreatment programs is a plus.
  • IEPA Class 1 Wastewater License is strongly preferred; candidates must obtain at least the IEPA Class 3 Wastewater License within one year of hire.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License is required.
  • Availability for on-call emergencies 24/7 is necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of NPDES/National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System standards for wastewater quality and treatment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience with SAP is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent customer service capabilities.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the capacity to collaborate effectively in a dynamic environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily sedentary work, with occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
  • Frequent travel within the division and moderate travel to headquarters may be required.
  • Must be available for emergencies and consultations at all times.
