Job Summary

The City of Chesapeake is seeking a highly skilled Licensed Clinician II to join our Crisis Stabilization team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive assessment, crisis intervention, and clinical determination for individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments to determine medical necessity, client needs, and pertinent factors related to the crisis episode.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on the comprehensive needs assessment, focusing on client strengths and resources.
  • Provide individual and family therapy as needed, utilizing evidence-based practices.
  • Facilitate crisis intervention and skills restoration to improve acute symptoms.
  • Conduct safety planning and health literacy counseling to prevent the need for a higher level of care and provide targeted education on diagnosis and treatments.
  • Provide care coordination and transition to the next level of care, including screening and referrals for appropriate behavioral health services and community resources.
  • Complete clinical documentation in the electronic health record and ensure accurate and timely filing of clinical information and submission of billing information.
  • Provide direct supervision to assigned staff, promoting professional growth and development.
  • Conduct quality assurance audits and monitor service delivery for adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the development of department processes and process improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of four years of related, full-time equivalent experience.
  • State of Virginia licensure as a Clinical Psychologist (LCP), Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Professional Counselor (LPC).
  • Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets the City's Driving Standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Supervisor experience.
Work Environment

Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
