Chesapeake, Virginia, United States City of Chesapeake Human Resources Full time
Job Summary

The City of Chesapeake Human Resources is seeking a highly skilled Licensed Clinician II LPC/LCSW to join our team in the Crisis Receiving Center. As a key member of our comprehensive 23-Hour Crisis Stabilization team, you will provide ongoing assessment, crisis intervention, and clinical determination for individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis.

You will work collaboratively with a dynamic team to address urgent behavioral health needs, including significant emotional dysregulation, disordered thought processes, substance use intoxication resulting in behavioral crisis, and environmentally destabilizing events. Your expertise will be instrumental in providing person-centered, trauma-informed care to individuals, with the goal of stabilization at the least restrictive level of care and an emphasis on post-crisis growth.

As a Licensed Clinician II, you will provide clinical oversight to assigned staff, assist in monitoring quality assurance, contribute to process improvement, and assist in problem-solving within the department. Your ability to work well with multiple internal and community stakeholders, including police, community partners, peer support, and emergency services staff, will be essential in coordinating care and safety in the community.

We are seeking a candidate with a master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a closely related field, and a minimum of four years of related, full-time equivalent experience. You must also possess State of Virginia licensure as a Clinical Psychologist (LCP), Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Professional Counselor (LPC). A valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with the City's Driving Standards may also be required.

As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, with a focus on providing exceptional care to our community. If you are a motivated and compassionate professional with a passion for behavioral health, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to determine medical necessity, client needs, and pertinent factors related to crisis episodes.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on comprehensive needs assessments that focus on client strengths and resources.
  • Provide individual and family therapy as needed.
  • Facilitate crisis intervention and skills restoration for improvement of acute symptoms.
  • Conduct safety planning and health literacy counseling to prevent the need for a higher level of care and provide targeted education concerning diagnosis and treatments.
  • Provide care coordination and transition to the next level of care, including screening and referrals for appropriate behavioral health services and community resources.
  • Complete clinical documentation in electronic health records and ensure accurate and timely filing of clinical information and submission of billing information.
  • Provide direct supervision to assigned staff.
  • Conduct quality assurance audits and monitor service delivery for adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the development of department processes and process improvement.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of four years of related, full-time equivalent experience.
  • State of Virginia licensure as a Clinical Psychologist (LCP), Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Professional Counselor (LPC).
  • Valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with the City's Driving Standards.
