General Overview

The Planning Analyst II is responsible for conducting essential planning and research activities. This role includes the formulation of local, regional, or state plans and programs, as well as the establishment of procedures for the execution and assessment of these plans. The position requires moderate supervision, allowing for some initiative and independent judgment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Collect, organize, and analyze data necessary for the development of plans or programs.

2. Engage in technical, policy, and interagency planning discussions.

3. Review and assess planning materials for compliance with contractual obligations.

4. Prepare comprehensive reports.

5. Investigate federal and state regulations relevant to planning.

6. Collaborate and communicate with various departments, agencies, and community organizations.

7. Conduct surveys through fieldwork and telephone outreach.

8. Assist in the formulation of procedures for the implementation of plans and programs, as well as in measuring their progress.

9. Support the preparation and monitoring of performance metrics.

10. Provide training to others as needed.

11. Perform related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university is required.
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience may substitute for one (1) year of education.
A minimum of one (1) year of experience in planning and research work is necessary.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registration:

Must possess a valid Texas motor vehicle operator's license and be eligible for coverage by the County's insurance provider.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Familiarity with government organization and administration.

Understanding of the principles, objectives, and procedures involved in governmental planning and programming.

Strong communication skills and the ability to train others effectively.
