Job Summary

Foundations for Living is seeking a skilled Activity Therapist to join our team. As an Activity Therapist, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing medically approved activity programs for patients in the behavioral health setting. Your goal will be to assist patients in developing interpersonal relationships, socializing effectively, and building confidence to participate in group activities.

Responsibilities

* Plan and direct activity programs for patients, including sports, dramatics, games, and arts and crafts * Instruct patients in relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing and concentration * Teach patients calisthenics, stretching, and limbering exercises, as well as individual and group sports * Counsel and encourage patients to develop leisure activities * Prepare progress charts and reports for medical staff and other members of the treatment team * Supervise and conduct in-service training of other staff members, review their assessments, and consult with them on selected cases * Train other members of the interdisciplinary team in techniques of activity therapy

Qualifications

* Good knowledge of the English language * Computer literacy, preferably with experience in Microsoft Office products * Willingness to cross-train in other areas * Previous experience or training in providing structured activities * Commitment to Foundations for Living's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct

Education/Licensure

* High School diploma, GED, or higher education required * Current CPR certification, according to unit-specific needs * Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the American Heart Association, for Healthcare Provider's Program
