Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Vitamin and Body Care Assistant to join our team at Natural Grocers. As a key member of our retail team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining a clean and organized store environment, and supporting the success of our vitamin and body care departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide world-class customer service and a positive customer experience daily.
  • Assist department managers in ordering, inventory management, and maintaining accurate inventory levels.
  • Support the management of margin, driving sales, and overall department profitability.
  • Ensure all in-stock products meet company standards.
  • Offer and follow up on special orders.
  • Merchandise shelves, endcaps, and dynamic displays.
  • Assist in managing and participating in tagging, facing, rotating, cleaning, markdowns, stocking, and backstock.
  • Assist in training and monitoring of department personnel.
  • Conduct active and passive demos.
  • Support store opening and closing activities, including Daily Sales Report (DSR) and cash handling.
  • Handle register functions, including backup cashiering, managing customer returns, and addressing customer complaints.
  • Maintain the safety and security of customers and employees.
  • Answer customer questions per company standards and policies.
  • Continually increase product knowledge.
  • Use SAP and inventory management software as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in grocery or retail environment preferred; natural foods background is a plus.
  • 1 year of experience supervising others preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in vitamins/supplements preferred.
  • Ability to pass food safety training courses and/or certifications as required by law.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities and stay focused.
  • Possess a sense of urgency in completing tasks.
  • Possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to take direction and follow through.
  • Must be cashier trained and able to count currency.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
