General Overview:

The Senior Counter Sales Associate will play a crucial role in supporting the Branch Manager to ensure the effective and profitable operation of the branch. This includes fostering relationships with clients, assisting with orders and payments, and maintaining high standards of customer service.

Depending on the branch's size, this role may involve supervisory duties.

Candidates must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers in various situations, both over the phone and in person.

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver exceptional customer service.
- Manage inventory and cash effectively.
- Recommend alternative products based on cost, availability, or specifications.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels and create in-house and special item promotions.
- Assist in training new employees.
- Handle incoming calls directed to the branch to ensure timely and efficient customer service.
- Present a professional image to customers and vendors at all times.
- Exhibit effective listening, communication, negotiation, and phone etiquette skills.
- Manage challenging situations with diplomacy and tact.
- Collaborate effectively with a diverse team.
- Operate material handling equipment safely to move products weighing over 70 pounds.

Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of heating and cooling systems.
- Knowledge of electrical systems.
- Proficient in basic math skills.
- Familiarity with major product lines.
- Effective sales techniques.
- Valid driver's license with a safe driving record; ability to operate manual transmission if applicable.

Work Environment:
This position operates in a fast-paced environment where frequent interruptions may occur. It requires regular bending, climbing, movement, and lifting during the physical loading/unloading of trucks and stocking products. Employees may be exposed to extreme temperatures. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, with some Saturday shifts (half day). This is a safety-sensitive role.

Successful completion of pre-employment screenings is required, and candidates must be at least 18 years of age to operate a forklift.
