The Contributions You Will Make in This Role

As an Environmental Engineer, you will leverage your curiosity and work alongside some of the most innovative and diverse minds worldwide.

In this role, you will have a significant impact by developing and executing environmental initiatives aimed at reducing risks and ensuring compliance across the organization. Your responsibilities will include:


Interpreting, implementing, coordinating, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements to ensure timely reporting and documentation for relevant Federal, State, and Local Environmental Permits, regulations, and programs.

Analyzing environmental data, conducting self-assessments, preparing reports, identifying trends, and communicating findings and recommendations to operational leadership for addressing compliance gaps.

Building a comprehensive understanding of external environmental activities and technologies and their relevance to the division's business operations.

Assessing complex regulatory challenges across various environmental media in relation to dynamic manufacturing processes.
Establishing and nurturing a network of support within the organization to facilitate the completion of environmental projects.
Reporting on the status and outcomes of environmental initiatives to operational leadership.
Your Qualifications and Skills
To ensure your success in this role from the outset, 3M seeks candidates who possess the following qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.

A minimum of two (2) years of combined experience in environmental compliance and/or environmental reporting within a private, public, government, or military context.

Additional qualifications that may enhance your success in this role include:
Experience in environmental compliance within a specialty chemical, petrochemical, or similar industry.

Experience in managing environmental programs (e.g., Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Title V, TSCA, incident investigation, and/or risk management).

A Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Experience interacting with Federal, State, and Local regulatory agencies.
Proficiency in various corporate reporting/compliance software tools.
Project Management experience.

Travel Requirements:
May include limited domestic travel

Relocation Assistance:
May be available

Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
