Field Technician II - Construction Materials Testing

RCG Moody International Limited c/- Intertek is seeking a Field CMT Technician II to enhance our Building & Construction division. This position offers a unique opportunity to advance a multifaceted career within the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) sector.

The Construction Technician role encompasses a range of testing, project-specific observations, and site evaluation tasks performed under minimal supervision and according to established protocols.

The Building & Construction division delivers assurance, testing, inspection, and certification services, along with building science solutions, to ensure Total Quality Assurance for the built environment. Our team provides the A/E/C industry with comprehensive capabilities both in laboratory settings and on-site.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct various testing, project-specific observations, and site evaluations with limited oversight and adherence to detailed procedures.
  • Operate testing apparatus and execute tests (e.g., soil, concrete) while analyzing and reporting data.
  • Utilize drawings, specifications, and diagrams to guide work.
  • Employ specific methods to monitor site activities and perform designated tasks.
  • Interpret plans and specifications accurately.
  • Maintain and calibrate standard testing equipment.
  • Oversee and execute complex assignments and tasks.
  • Participate in project meetings independently.
  • Provide training to junior technicians.
  • Document detailed observations and offer limited interpretations of results.
  • Maintain thorough records of test results and data.
  • Utilize calculators for mathematical computations related to test outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
  • Adhere to safety practices and policies to ensure personal and team safety.
Qualifications for Success:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Construction Materials Testing is required.
  • ICC/IBC Certifications in areas such as Structural Masonry, Reinforced Concrete, Fireproofing, or Structural Bolting are essential.
    • ACI Certification is preferred.
    • NICET Certification is preferred.
  • Ability to supervise and lead team members.
  • Basic math, calculator, and computer skills are necessary.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Capability to read and comprehend technical documents.
  • Willingness to work varied shifts and overtime as needed.
  • A valid driver's license and a reliable driving record are mandatory.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to frequently lift, move, push, and pull 30 to 50 pounds, with occasional lifting of over 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and discern sounds accurately.
  • Occasional kneeling and squatting are required.
  • Capability to walk and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Occasional climbing may be necessary.
