Job Overview

Position Summary: The Psychological Assessment Specialist is responsible for conducting psychological evaluations and assessments for individuals, including adults, children, and families. This role aims to provide accurate diagnoses and actionable recommendations to promote safety, stability, and overall well-being. Additionally, the specialist will offer therapeutic services to children and their families as necessary to support timely and lasting placements.

Location: Olathe/Lawrence

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in a licensed mental health discipline (such as social work, professional counseling, psychology, or marriage and family therapy) from an accredited institution, with relevant coursework in assessment.
  • A minimum of one year of supervised experience (including practicum experience) in the administration and interpretation of psychological assessments and testing. Coursework focused on developmental screening and diagnosis is preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency in computer skills, including typing, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Licensure/Certification: Must possess a master's level license from the KS BSRB, along with a valid Driver's License and Auto Insurance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality professional services, including psychological assessments for individuals and families.
  • Administer and interpret developmental and behavioral evaluations.
  • Review documentation and collaborate effectively with KVC staff, parents, children, and community partners.
  • Assist clients in establishing treatment objectives using a strengths-based approach.
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy, including home-based services.
  • Support program units in crisis prevention, education, safety planning, and intervention strategies. Coordinate services with consulting psychiatrists as required.
  • Testify in parental rights trials and hearings, offer clinical consultation, and participate in various meetings and training sessions.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with DCF, courts, and other relevant agencies.
