Position Overview

Job Title: Associate General Counsel

Department: Office of the General Counsel

Organization Background: The Center for Reproductive Rights is a prominent global human rights entity dedicated to safeguarding reproductive rights as essential human rights worldwide. With a presence in multiple international locations, the Center operates as a non-profit, non-partisan organization committed to transforming legal frameworks and policies across various regions, including Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the United States. Our diverse team of over 230 professionals is dedicated to advancing our mission through impactful litigation, legal policy development, and advocacy initiatives. This commitment has propelled the Center's growth to an operating budget exceeding $50 million, alongside an additional $29 million in donated legal services from legal professionals across more than 46 countries.

Strategic Vision: The Center's Strategic Plan aims for a significant milestone: By 2030, half of the global population will experience enhanced protections for reproductive rights. Our history of success supports this ambitious vision. Since our inception in 1992, we have redefined the understanding and application of reproductive rights in judicial systems, governmental policies, and human rights frameworks worldwide, addressing critical issues such as maternal health, abortion, assisted reproduction, and adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). We have achieved landmark victories in national courts, U.N. Committees, and regional human rights bodies, and have pioneered proactive legislation that fortifies reproductive rights while enhancing the legal capabilities of women's rights advocates in over 65 countries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the General Counsel and current Associate General Counsel to expand and formalize the general counsel function.
