Position Overview

SAIC is looking for a Systems Engineer/Architect who possesses extensive experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), particularly within the realms of Defense and National Security Space systems. This role is integral to our Horizon 2 program, which supports critical initiatives in space security.

The Horizon Program collaborates with government entities, providing expert guidance on space systems and their architectural frameworks. Team members are responsible for delivering systems engineering and architectural insights that bolster the protection and defense of vital national space assets. Our experts play a crucial role in advising and assisting government agencies in refining their architectural frameworks and full lifecycle systems engineering processes to meet operational requirements.

In this role, you will leverage your systems engineering and architectural expertise, applying MBSE methodologies to formulate analytical and solution-oriented approaches that effectively serve our clients. Your understanding of systems engineering processes, methodologies, tools, SysML, and program responsibilities will be pivotal in developing comprehensive architectural roadmaps. You will engage in continuous learning and improvement of existing architectures, ensuring they align with stakeholder needs and formal requirements while facilitating constructive discussions on architectural evolution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage regularly with US Space Force Commands, mission partner agencies, and higher headquarters to deliver robust architectural solutions, document requirements, and conduct parametric analyses.
  • Participate in the development and management of enterprise and systems models, including conducting impact assessments based on environmental changes.
  • Support various analytical studies, including trade, sensitivity, optimization, and performance assessments, as well as contribute to mission analysis and CONOPS development.
  • Prepare and present architectural concepts, designs, and performance evaluations.

Qualifications

Candidate Profile:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience (or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree):
    • Proficient in systems engineering and architecture, including Department of Defense modeling standards and documentation.
    • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering concepts and tools (e.g., Rhapsody, Cameo/Magic Draw, SparxEA).
    • Experience with analysis and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, AGI/STK, Python).
    • Knowledge of the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM) toolset.
  • Must possess an in-scope security background investigation (T5 or SSBI), adjudicated for SCI eligibility, and enrolled in the Continuous Evaluation program (if applicable).
  • Willingness to be nominated for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information and Special Access Programs, and consent to a Polygraph examination.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in engineering, science, or a related technical field.
  • Professional certifications such as INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) Certification and/or OMG Certified System Modeling Professional (OSCMP) Certification.
  • Understanding of DODI and JCIDS processes.
  • Experience with or within the Intelligence Community.
  • Background in National Security Space or the Space Control mission area.

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. This estimate reflects the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
