Responsibilities

The Construction Project Coordinator will be responsible for:
  • Supporting project managers in planning and programming expertise for university projects, including education, administration, research, and clinical functions.
  • Providing construction management services for small, routine, and large, complex projects, including conceptual design, design development, and project specifications.
  • Coordinating with consultants, contractors, and vendors to ensure compliance with contract specifications and drawings.
  • Providing engineering assistance for architectural, civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical engineering requirements for maintenance problems or construction projects.
  • Recommending approval of project invoices submitted by contractors and vendors to the project manager and director of construction.
  • Reviewing project scope changes initiated by the architect, engineer, contractor, or user group.
  • Preparing and monitoring interim life safety measures, pre-construction risk assessments, and infection control risk assessments.


Requirements

The successful candidate will possess an associate's degree from an accredited college or university in construction, building, planning, or a related field of study, and 1 year of relevant experience. Alternatively, the candidate may have 2 years of relevant facilities project management experience or military background with facilities project management experience. A valid driver's license is also required.

Preferred Qualifications

Construction management/project management experience is preferred, as well as PMP certification and CHC certification. Local construction market experience is also a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

The successful candidate will possess the ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications, as well as knowledge of building HVAC and electrical systems and design. Direct knowledge of compliance requirements as they relate to an academic campus setting is also required. The candidate will also possess the ability to track data and metrics to drive decisions and think strategically, staying abreast of industry trends and technology.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

The position is a full-time role with a salary range of $23.46/hour - $23.55/hour, commensurate with qualifications. The university offers a variety of benefits to full-time benefits-eligible employees, including health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, and earned vacation time, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays. The university also offers the Tuition Assistance Program to full-time employees who have been employed successfully for more than 6 months.

Conditions of Employment

All selected candidates are required to successfully pass a background check review prior to starting with Augusta University. If applicable, the candidate will also need to have a credit check completed for positions of trust and/or approved departmental purchase card usage. Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that are required to drive an Augusta University vehicle. For faculty hires, final candidates will be required to provide proof of completed academic degree(s) as well as post-secondary coursework in the form of original transcript(s).
