Job Summary:
The Arc of Prince George's County is seeking a Community Companion - Spanish Speaker to support individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes and communities. As a Community Companion, you will provide assistance with daily living skills, community integration, and personal care, while promoting independence and self-advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:- Community Integration and Participation: Assist individuals in participating in community and leisure activities, including transportation to appointments or activities.
- Personal Care: Provide instruction, guidance, and assistance with personal grooming and hygiene, as well as assist with and/or dispense medications and other medical treatments.
- Financial Management: Assist individuals with responsible management of their personal funds, including banking and financial planning.
- Communication and Documentation: Use effective communication with individuals, families, and other stakeholders, and document and complete required records and reports.
- General: Demonstrate positive role-model behavior, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to agency policies and procedures.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: At least 1 year of related experience working with children or adults in a care-giving setting.
- Language: Fluent in Spanish and English.
- Skills: Strong communication and care-giving skills, ability to work independently, and a good driving record.
The Arc of Prince George's County is a non-profit organization that provides support services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. We serve over 600 individuals and offer a range of programs and services, including community living, family and personal supports, employment services, and day programs.
