Position Overview

The University of California is in search of a skilled and knowledgeable Operations and Finance Analyst within the Department of Dermatology.

Job Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for a variety of administrative functions, encompassing finance and human resources, with potential involvement in IT, facilities management, or student services.

Key management responsibilities include both long-term and short-term strategic planning, which involves defining the mission and overseeing the activities of various multi-disciplinary departments through subordinate management personnel.

Specific duties entail:

  • Financial oversight and management.
  • Providing guidance to faculty and trainees regarding reimbursements and university policies.
  • Space management and auditing.
  • Human resources functions, including assisting in the onboarding process for new faculty.

Work Environment

This position is classified as a hybrid role, requiring three days of onsite work.


Compensation

The final salary and components of the offer are subject to further approvals in accordance with UC policy. For salary range details, please refer to the TCS Non-Academic Titles Search.

Note: Offers will take into account the experience of the selected candidate as well as the current salary levels of similar roles within the organization.


Department Overview

The Department of Dermatology at the School of Medicine provides a comprehensive array of patient care, educational programs, research initiatives, and public service responsibilities.

It offers medical students, residents, and post-doctoral fellows opportunities in research, patient care, and teaching.

The department consists of four distinct clinical sub-units located across various sites and is supported by a centralized Administrative Core, ensuring operational and financial assistance to faculty, trainees, and staff.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience/training.
  • A minimum of three years of directly related experience.
  • Prior experience in an academic environment.
  • Medical Administrative Assistant Certification.
  • Familiarity with UCPath, Bear Buy, PeopleSoft, MyExpense, HBS, and Archibus.

  • In-depth knowledge of university regulations, processes, and protocols related to budget and personnel management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including effective verbal and written communication, active listening, and critical thinking.
  • Experience in various administrative operational activities such as event planning, basic fundraising, risk management, and compliance with contracts and grants regulations.
  • Proficiency in university-specific computer applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities.
