Position Overview:

We are in search of a qualified Lead Emergency Veterinarian to oversee and guide our team of Emergency Clinicians. The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing, mentoring, and directing the medical operations and supervision of all Emergency staff. As the Service Lead, you will exemplify excellence as an Emergency veterinarian and serve as the primary contact for all operational elements of the Emergency and Critical Care unit.

Primary Duties:

  • Oversee daily functions of the Emergency and Critical Care department
  • Encourage a cooperative atmosphere within the Emergency department and the hospital as a whole
  • Develop protocols for the Emergency Department to promote growth and efficiency
  • Manage the scheduling of Emergency veterinarians to ensure adequate coverage and workflow
  • Recruit, onboard, and train new medical personnel
  • Facilitate department meetings and provide guidance to both veterinarians and support staff
  • Represent hospital leadership and collaborate with other departments for seamless patient care
  • Work various shifts to support patient care initiatives and team unity
  • Consistently uphold high standards of medical care and professionalism

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree
  • Active veterinary license in the state of New York
  • A minimum of three years of experience in Emergency veterinary medicine
  • Preferably at least one year of leadership experience in a veterinary setting, but we welcome strong candidates eager to step into a leadership role
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Capacity to excel in a dynamic environment
