About The Role

This full-time position is part of Purple Strategies' Communications Expertise Group. The primary aim of this group is to influence the narrative surrounding our clients and their public interactions. Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating cohesive communication strategies, audience-focused deliverables, and media materials;
  • Offering strategic guidance to internal teams and clients, including coaching for client executives;
  • Providing the necessary expertise and resources to implement campaign strategies.

The Manager will collaborate closely with client teams to develop and execute effective communication strategies that align with campaign goals. This role is ideal for a communications expert with experience in areas such as speechwriting, earned media, digital content creation, or internal communications. The ideal candidate is a skilled writer with media insight, capable of producing engaging content that resonates across various channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in crafting and delivering persuasive messaging and supporting materials based on unique, insight-driven strategies.
  • Contribute to strategic communication planning that integrates traditional and digital channels, as well as third-party engagement.
  • Produce high-quality written materials, including talking points, Q&As, speeches, op-eds, press releases, blog posts, client memos, and presentations, often under tight deadlines.
  • Help maintain editorial calendars to guide clients' communication strategies.
  • Support clients' rapid response needs during urgent news events.
  • Research and draft potential pitch stories and identify targets to enhance coverage of campaigns and initiatives.
  • Investigate media outlets and journalists, preparing key stakeholders for interviews.
  • Engage in media monitoring to keep internal and client stakeholders informed about coverage and news cycles, identifying risks and opportunities, and assisting in drafting responses as necessary.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree with a recommended 5+ years of experience in communications, particularly within political or issue advocacy campaigns, public affairs, or corporate communications.
  • Outstanding writing abilities with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Strong interest in news and the ability to analyze and shape narratives; enthusiasm for media engagement.
  • Self-motivated individual who thrives under tight deadlines and is eager to take on projects.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
