The Role of the Consultant
Consultants are professionals who strive to understand the needs and challenges of client organizations.

To effectively serve their clients, Consultants utilize the Gallagher Better Works Organizational Wellbeing value proposition alongside the broader capabilities offered by Gallagher across various divisions.

Success in this role requires building, retaining, and expanding a portfolio of business while developing a personal brand that aligns with Gallagher's high-achieving, collaborative, and innovative culture.

Expect to be the Consultant for your own portfolio.

You will receive account management support as needed to ensure you can maintain a 10 to 20% annual growth rate in your portfolio.

Objectives for Success

Act as an entrepreneur, developing a portfolio from a network of your own contacts typically within a specific vertical niche or employer size.

Establish and maintain a new business pipeline of qualified leads exceeding four times your goal. Weekly, ensure all tracked pipeline information is current and accurately reflects your activities and stage in the sales process.

Demonstrate the ability to conduct client discovery confidently in the presence of key stakeholders.

Independently consult clients and identify opportunities to engage other subject matter experts.

As clients are onboarded, schedule regular check-ins and briefings with the Client Service team to stay informed about account status, providing leadership regarding strategy, communications, and problem-solving.

Take responsibility for organizing internal client account review meetings, ensuring timely and thorough completion of prescribed processes to ensure client retention, always thinking creatively about next steps needed to expand the account.

Include executive sponsors as appropriate.

Regularly brief the Regional Sales Leader and the Area President/Area EVP on the status of all key accounts.

Enthusiastically Embrace and Collaborate with Gallagher Benefit Services:

Within 30 days, identify an internal network of supportive figures (Producer peers, Consultants, Leaders, etc.) to rely on for guidance and advice.

Schedule informal meetings with these individuals as needed.

Within 60 days of completing Gallagher Better Works training, be able to introduce the concept of Organizational Wellbeing and apply its value to prospects and clients, aiming to facilitate introductions to other relevant Gallagher experts.

Within six months, identify a Gallagher Global Broking Producer or Producers to collaborate with, starting by identifying opportunities and providing warm introductions for that Producer among your clients and requesting reciprocal introductions to their clients.

Within six months, gain introductions to division-level resource leaders across the breadth of the Gallagher Better Works model.
Identify one or more divisional initiatives of personal interest to participate in within the first 12 months. Measure the growth of your personal brand within Gallagher by the scope and breadth of the projects you engage in.
Understand your competition.

Provide insights regarding wins/losses you are aware of in the market, and consistently schedule post-presentation reviews that include all Gallagher participants.

Know the carriers. Understand market trends and the relative strengths of each, developing key relationships with our partners.
Regularly seek feedback on your performance in client-facing and internal colleague-facing settings.
At prospecting, proposal, and account management stages, provide training through collaboration with junior team members. Highlight complex client strategies and technical analyses while emphasizing client value, compliance, and ethical conduct.
Express interest in succession opportunities. Provide guidance to leaders who seek to ensure your career progresses in the most rewarding manner possible.

About You

Client-facing experience at a consulting firm, insurance company, brokerage, or in the Health and Benefits sector
A Bachelor's degree is preferred
An active Life and Health license (or willingness to obtain)
A professional designation is preferred
