Public Health Nutrition Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Dietitian to join our team at Douglas County. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering public health nutrition services to individuals, families, and community groups.
Key Responsibilities- Provide professional public health nutrition services to WIC families, including assessments, consultations, and referrals.
- Develop and implement nutrition care plans for high-risk clients and families, taking into consideration income, cultural food patterns, home facilities, and other psychosocial factors.
- Oversee group nutrition classes for clients and assist in preparing and reviewing educational materials for staff team conferences.
- Collaborate with the WIC Manager, Assistant Director for Community Health, and NCHD staff in the planning, developing, organizing, and implementing of nutrition services in a public health program.
- Assist in the development and implementation of program procedures and policies, and instruct DCHD or NCHD staff in the methods, techniques, and procedures utilized in nutrition and WIC services.
- Requires a Bachelor's Degree (Master's Degree preferred) from an accredited college or university with major coursework in foods and nutrition, dietetics, or a related field.
- Two years of experience as a registered dietitian, with one year of public health experience required. Supervisory experience preferred.
- Must be a registered dietitian through Commission on Dietetic Registration and meet professional standards required by The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
