Position: Senior Construction Inspector for Transportation Projects

Reporting To: Project Manager

Key Attributes:

  • Proactive and self-motivated individual.
  • Provides essential technical assistance.
  • Experience with various highway and bridge construction projects.
  • Familiarity with construction management and inspection for water and sewer authorities is advantageous.

Technical Duties:

  • Review and interpret construction plans, specifications, and methodologies to ensure adherence to legal and safety standards.
  • Monitor construction activities and document progress, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, including quantity calculations and material testing documentation.
  • Measure and verify dimensions, alignment, and elevation of structures to ensure compliance with established codes.
  • Maintain organized records of all project documents.
  • Support the project manager with relevant information and reports.
  • Work independently while managing additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications and Certifications:

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in highway and/or bridge construction inspection.
  • Certifications required: NECEPT Asphalt Field Technician or PennDOT/NECEPT Concrete Technician.
  • Optional certifications include Traffic Control, Guide Rail, and Stormwater Management.
  • Proficient in PennDOT's ECMS and other construction documentation software.
  • Solid understanding of construction specifications, standards, and methodologies.
  • Ability to supervise junior inspectors and develop effective solutions to challenges.

Educational Background:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is preferred.
  • Possession of a PA Professional Engineering License is a plus.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and regulations is mandatory.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to navigate company systems.
  • Basic math skills for performing necessary calculations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends, as needed.
  • Physical capability to perform tasks such as bending, lifting, and working in various weather conditions.
