Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Quality Manager is accountable for overseeing all quality-related functions at the manufacturing site. This role involves the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with corporate standards. As a key member of the leadership team, the Quality Manager collaborates to establish both short-term and long-term objectives that align with the corporate strategy concerning quality management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define quality objectives that align with strategic initiatives, ensuring that actionable plans are created to meet the established goals related to the QMS, including Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) metrics such as scrap, returns, supplier issues, customer claims, and warranty concerns.
  • Engage with operations management to implement quality and corporate objectives aimed at enhancing product quality while reducing costs.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with corporate management, operations, engineering, sales, and the dealer network to effectively address business, quality, and customer requirements.
  • Ensure the maintenance of IATF 16949:2016 certification for the manufacturing facility and facilitate the implementation of any additional quality-related certifications.
  • Identify recurring quality issues, perform root-cause analyses, and implement corrective actions for process and quality system concerns.
  • Lead initiatives for continuous improvement to enhance the quality system, which includes conducting audits, resolving audit findings, and determining appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Address all customer quality complaints, assign corrective actions, and provide updates to customers regarding resolutions.
  • Ensure prompt resolution of supplier failures, including corrective and preventive actions.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering, another engineering discipline, or a related field is required.
  • Over 10 years of experience in quality management, including leadership roles within a manufacturing and assembly context.
  • Prior experience with IATF 16949 is essential.

Certifications:

  • Certification as a Quality Engineer (CQE) or other ASQ certifications is preferred.
  • Certifications in Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Lean Six Sigma are desirable.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with production team members.
  • Ability to present data and insights to senior management.
  • Proficient in identifying issues and inefficiencies, with a track record of implementing effective changes.
  • Experienced in quality database systems and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Capable of performing calculations and interpreting data through graphs.

Availability:

  • Willingness to support weekend shifts, which may include occasional Saturdays.

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel may be required to multiple facilities within a 25-mile radius.
