Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Quality Manager is accountable for overseeing all quality-related functions at the manufacturing site. This role involves the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with corporate standards. As a key member of the leadership team, the Quality Manager will contribute to the establishment of both short-term and long-term objectives that align with the overarching corporate strategy concerning quality management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define quality objectives that align with strategic initiatives and ensure that actions are taken to meet the established goals related to the QMS, including costs of poor quality (COPQ) such as scrap, returns, supplier issues, customer claims, and warranty concerns.
  • Collaborate effectively with operations management to implement quality and corporate objectives aimed at maximizing product quality while minimizing costs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate management, operations, engineering, sales, and the dealer network to address business, quality, and customer requirements.
  • Ensure the facility maintains compliance with IATF 16949:2016 certification and pursue any additional relevant quality certifications.
  • Identify and analyze recurring quality issues, conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions for process and quality system-related challenges.
  • Lead initiatives for continuous improvement to enhance the quality system, including conducting audits, addressing audit findings, and determining appropriate corrective and preventive measures.
  • Manage customer quality complaints, ensuring corrective actions are assigned and providing feedback to customers regarding resolutions.
  • Oversee the timely resolution of supplier failures, including corrective and preventive actions.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Quality Engineering, another engineering discipline, or a related field is required.
  • At least 10 years of experience in quality management, including leadership roles within a manufacturing and assembly context.
  • Prior experience with IATF 16949 is essential.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or other ASQ certifications are preferred.
  • Certifications in Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Lean Six Sigma are desirable.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with production team members.
  • Ability to present data and insights to senior management.
  • Proficient in identifying issues and inefficiencies, with a focus on implementing effective changes.
  • Familiarity with quality database systems and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Capability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, as well as to interpret graphical data.

Availability:

  • Willingness to support weekend shift operations, which may include occasional Saturdays.

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel to multiple facilities within a 25-mile radius is required.
