Position Overview:
As a Radiologic Imaging Specialist, you will conduct x-ray examinations for diagnostic purposes. Adhere to established radiologic standards and regulations to prioritize patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Educate and prepare patients for their imaging procedures.
- Deliver exceptional patient care and maintain effective communication, which is crucial for performing a variety of imaging techniques.
- Accurately document patient medical records, including comprehensive medical history prior to examinations.
- Position patients to ensure optimal visualization of anatomical structures.
- Determine and adjust technical parameters to accurately depict anatomy and pathology.
- Ensure the safety, comfort, and mental well-being of patients throughout the imaging process.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed. Please note that this job description is not intended to cover all activities, duties, or responsibilities required of the employee in this role. Responsibilities may evolve over time with or without notice.
Inpatient imaging departments may require participation in an "on call" rotation regularly. Imaging specialists in inpatient settings may be expected to cover multiple hospital locations as necessary.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Completion of an Associate's degree program in Radiologic Technology or equivalent.
Experience:
- Preferred minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
Licensure/Certification:
- ARRT(R) certification or eligibility required (must obtain ARRT(R) certification within one year of employment if eligible).
- Certification from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required.
- Completion of the American Heart Association Healthcare Provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 30 calendar days of hire (exceptions may be approved on a case-by-case basis).
- BLS recertification is required every two (2) years.
Knowledge and Skills:
Proficiency in Radiation Safety, Anatomy and Positioning, Physics, Computer Skills, Medical Terminology, and General Safety practices.
Physical Requirements:
Medium Physical Agility Test (PAT) Rating.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, and walk; occasionally use hands and fingers; and frequently communicate verbally or audibly.
The employee must exert between 20 to 35 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
