Duration: Long-term contract

Job Overview:

  • This position is for a Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer to become a vital member of a developing aerospace team. As a key contributor to the Supplier Management Services team, you will provide essential value to our clients by facilitating APQP activities with suppliers to achieve operational objectives.
  • The role involves collaboration with the team and our primary transportation client to coordinate with suppliers, ensuring timely follow-up during part development, evaluating PPAP documentation, and aligning with quality requirements.
  • Furthermore, you will conduct Process and Product audits, analyze quality concerns, engage in root cause analysis, and ensure corrective actions are completed. Regular follow-ups with suppliers will be necessary to support FAI, PPAP, and other quality initiatives.
  • This position requires onsite work and occasional visits to supplier locations, supporting a project with a six-month timeline.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with suppliers to monitor and document operational challenges.
  • Apply core PPAP elements (PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow, Control Plans, etc.) to identify and recommend strategies for risk management in product development.
  • Oversee quality processes to ensure compliance with work transfer and process change management, including gate reviews and PPAP acceptance.
  • Propose continuous improvement strategies to enhance defect reduction metrics.
  • Ensure adherence to customer compliance standards, including process control documentation.
  • Provide status updates to client and customer leadership.
  • Conduct assessments of supplier quality performance and track improvements over time.
  • Identify supplier quality risks and assist in developing risk mitigation strategies.
  • Take initiative in executing supplier operational improvement projects.
  • Implement corrective action plans for any identified gaps in supplier processes.
  • Regularly present supplier performance updates, action items, challenges, risks, and progress to key stakeholders.
  • Comply with import, export, and procurement regulations.
  • This role may require occasional travel to supplier locations as necessary.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Direct experience with PPAP in the aerospace sector.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of engineering outsourcing business practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • ASQ certifications (CQE, CQM).
  • Experience with escape management procedures and root cause corrective actions.
  • Proficiency with quality tools such as FAI, PFMEA, DFMEA, GR&R, GD&T elements.
  • Familiarity with APQP, MRL, and QCPC.
  • Experience in drafting technical documents, including Work Instructions and Inspection Plans.
  • Exposure to quality tools such as DAISE, 8D, DIVE, PDCS, LEAN, and Six Sigma.
  • Knowledge of various manufacturing processes.
  • Able to foster positive intercompany relationships.
  • Exceptional communication and reporting skills.
