Job Overview

Position Summary:

This role is pivotal in fostering a global supply network by assessing suppliers' core strengths, capabilities, and production capacity, alongside their process controls, quality assurance, and comprehension of AS9100 standards. The position also entails ongoing oversight of performance metrics, on-site evaluations, and management of corrective measures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that suppliers within the designated portfolio adhere to relevant regulatory and normative standards, as well as RECARO's technical and quality benchmarks.
  • Enhance supplier capabilities by offering guidance and support to ensure compliance with technical and quality specifications, while monitoring their performance and driving continuous improvement in quality and delivery.
  • Conduct audits at supplier facilities to assess compliance levels, including planning, notifying, and following up on corrective actions.
  • This position requires significant travel, approximately 60% of the time, both domestically and internationally.

Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with SPC & SPG to evaluate potential suppliers through quality and capability audits, actively contributing to supplier approval and strategic decisions.
  • Provide training and coaching to new suppliers to help them meet RECARO process requirements and understand Bill of Materials (BOMs), technical drawings, and quality standards.
  • Monitor supplier quality performance and support monthly reviews of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), while maintaining quality statistics and tracking metrics.
  • Continuously oversee a dedicated supplier portfolio regarding quality performance and compliance, ensuring proper reporting.
  • Document and analyze quality non-conformities from audits, supplier evaluations, and KPI monitoring, identify root causes, and define necessary supplier actions.
  • Act as the lead auditor during supplier audits.
  • Initiate Supplier Risk Analysis and collaborate with SPC to perform risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Explore methods and tools for the continuous improvement of internal processes, cost reductions, and the robustness of the quality system.
  • Identify and support potential cost-saving initiatives and reduction strategies.
  • Coordinate major quality issues between the Quality department and suppliers.
  • Work in conjunction with the DVC team (process qualification) and other quality functions within RECARO.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Manage relationships with suppliers and other departments, particularly SPC, SOQ, and global SPT.
  • Balance strategic and operational supplier management concerning quality and commercial needs.
  • Maintain and enhance knowledge of various technologies and suppliers.
  • Influence global purchasing and supplier strategies at RECARO.
  • Drive efficiency improvements in SPT processes and supplier enhancement methodologies.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to all office safety protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations in production, logistics, warehousing, or staging areas.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to all RECARO policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Comply with any relevant regulatory bodies, including AS9100, EN9100, ISO9001, ISO14001, FAA, EASA, Airbus, or Boeing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Quality, or a related field.
  • Technical education with substantial experience and knowledge of commodities, materials, and industrial manufacturing processes. Auditor qualification in AS9100 & AS14001 is preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years in Production, (Industrial) Engineering, Purchasing, or Quality Management, preferably within the aviation sector.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project); familiarity with SAP is advantageous.
