Position Overview

The Post Service Representative plays a crucial role in facilitating the smooth admission process for patients at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center. This position ensures that all registration points, including Emergency Room, Outpatient Ambulatory, and Behavioral Health, gather accurate patient information while adhering to hospital policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Efficient Patient Admission: Organize and manage the orderly admission of patients, ensuring they are informed of hospital policies and procedures.
  • Patient Interaction: Engage with patients and hospital staff to guarantee quality care throughout the patient's stay.
  • Insurance Verification: Establish health insurance benefits by making inquiries and utilizing eligibility systems.
  • Appointment Management: Accept and process reservations for various hospital services, entering information into the EMR system.
  • Data Accuracy: Collect and verify demographic, financial, and insurance information for all patients.
  • Documentation: Ensure all patient information is accurate and updated in the system, including scanning necessary documents.
  • Financial Assistance Referral: Direct self-pay patients to financial assistance representatives for potential Medicaid or Charity Care eligibility.
  • Financial Clearance: Obtain necessary approvals for patients seeking outpatient psychiatric services.
  • Patient Transfers: Manage the admission, discharge, and transfer of patients across various units.
  • Payment Collection: Collect payments for deposits related to deductibles and co-insurance.
  • Policy Compliance: Notify supervisors of admissions that do not comply with hospital financial policies.
  • Continuous Learning: Participate in educational programs and in-service meetings to enhance skills.
  • Hospital Values: Promote the mission, vision, and values of Bergen New Bridge Medical Center.
  • Customer Service: Greet all patients, families, and visitors with a welcoming attitude.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in customer service or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, billing practices, and coding.
  • Proficient in computer skills and MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong mathematical skills and outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities.
  • Bi-lingual skills, particularly in Spanish, are a plus.
