The Automation Integration Lead is responsible for orchestrating, implementing, and concluding the commissioning and testing phases for both new construction and retrofitting automation initiatives.

This role will oversee on-site installation, evaluation, and problem-solving throughout the go-live and ramp-up stages, ensuring that timelines are adhered to, key performance indicators are achieved, and budgetary constraints are respected.


The Automation Integration Lead will collaborate with all development teams to initiate greenfield automated cold storage facilities, working closely with the Project Engineering Manager, Systems Engineer, Commissioning Manager, automation and software vendors, as well as internal IT and systems teams to manage all aspects of the interior automation installations within cold storage environments.

Additionally, this individual will provide support to Americold's local and regional operations and maintenance teams before and after the go-live phase to facilitate a seamless transition, which includes training, acceptance, ownership, spare parts management, and preventive maintenance for all automated systems.


As a subject matter expert in software systems (WES/WCS), controls, mechatronics, and hardware/devices, the Automation Integration Lead will apply best practices to enhance facility operations and business processes through sustained automation/mechanical reliability and the development of analytics and reporting metrics.


Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement project work plans, commissioning timelines, and transition strategies in collaboration with the Americold project management and operations teams, as well as the automation supplier commissioning teams.
- Lead and support all significant PLC/WES/WCS/WMS and other system transitions to ensure flawless launches for automated warehouses.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to the integration of mechanical, electrical, or control systems to optimize rate and cycle time.
- Enhance User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Operational Readiness Tests, collaborating with site analysts, project managers, and super-users from both internal and external OEM vendors to execute all necessary simulations and scripts for successful launches and transitions.
- Conduct gap analyses for future PLC/WES/WCS/WMS implementations alongside the Systems Engineer and Commissioning Manager to identify areas for process performance improvement.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience in the field of automation/mechatronics.
- A minimum of 7 years of site implementation experience and leadership in automated, complex environments.
- At least 5 years of experience in Engineering and/or Automation Operations is preferred.
- Proven experience managing large systems and physical programs, including PLC/WES/WCS/WMS transitions, launches, and automation go-lives.
- Willingness to work remotely and travel approximately 75-85% of the time to support various projects.

Preferred Skills:
- Advanced technical knowledge in managing warehouse management systems (preferably Blue Yonder) and warehouse execution systems (WES), as well as PLC controls.
- Proficiency in data mining and analysis tools such as SQL/database query/extraction, Cobra, Excel, Power BI, Jaspersoft, etc.
- Experience in Systems Engineering and ongoing site support.
